A lot of consumers don't know that their beauty and body care products contain a long list of ingredients, some of which are known allergens, carcinogens and to be toxic to humans. Heather Swett and Sabrina Ewing of Cape Cod Home Remedies started making their own products in order to keep these chemicals out of their own homes, and then began to make batches of their creations to sell to the Cape Cod community. Here we ask them a few questions about their business, which is also their passion.

Your tag line is Pure | Organic | Simple - what does that mean to you and your brand?

It means that all of the ingredients that we use are safe and natural- free from toxic chemicals. We want our customers to be able to read our labels and know and understand exactly what is in it. Most importantly, we want our brand to be one that you can trust in and feel safe and good about using.

Why is it important to you to develop a product line that is nontoxic and natural?

Our product line is made up of all the types of products that we use daily- beauty and wellness. We started out making just a few items and have have grown from there. We love to ask our family and friends what they would like to see from us. We then use them as our testers!  We also take suggestions from our customers and we always welcome their feedback.

ell us about your product line. How do you decide what to create and how to you test your products?

Do you see yourselves as educators as much as you are makers?

We see ourselves as being educators as our number one job. The rest is just a bonus to us. There is a fine line between educating and preaching and we try to be mindful of never crossing it. We will let anyone try our products so they can see for themselves that natural and organic does not mean ineffective or unaffordable.

What do you hope for the future of Cape Cod Home Remedies?

We have big hopes for our future. We really want to expand our reach over the bridge. And we want to acquire more retail locations. We are blessed that we get to call this our job- we are both doing what we love and are passionate about.
